This hotel is a welcome haven from the hustle and bustle of downtown Kathmandu and offers 94 elegant and comfortable guest rooms. The hotel was previously a Rana Palace and was converted in 1964 but still retains its most of its authentic Nepalese atmosphere. Each of the 94 guest rooms are tastefully decorated with wall hangings and classic furniture with large arched windows and modern amenities such as a satellite TV and mini bar. The Kailash is a huge ballroom type restaurant that serves local delicacies as well as International favorites set in a beautifully decorated dining room. There is also the Kunti Bar where guests can relax and unwind after a long day and enjoy a cocktail in an original Nepalese environment.

Kunti bar
Where you sip a variety of drinks in an atmosphere enriched by stout wooden beams, carved pillars, intricately carved Nepalese windows and good old-fashioned Nepalese bonhomie.

Kailash Restaurant
Kailash is a traveller’s delight. 4558 sq. feet of space with carved ceiling, intricately worked walls, small bejewelled mirrors and piped music provide an opulent backdrop to meals prepared by our chefs.

The Suite is awesome. All corner rooms are suites so you have to get that. Otherwise it is just a regular hotel room. Nice pool area. Staff is very nice and helpful. Food is good. Quiet area so you do not smell pollution or hear traffic.
Excellent value for money. We stayed at the Yak and Yeti and this place blows that out of the water. The service at the other hotel was terrible. The Shanker knows how to treat guests right. I would stay here anytime. Nice pool area for Kathmandu too! It is a little old and dated but from what I have seen in Kathmandu this is great! I recommend this place for before and after trekking. Great location near Thamel. Cons – A little dated but thats ok for Kathmandu.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Make sure you get your bearings of hotel to Palace and then where the hotel is to Thamel. It is easy to get lost in Thamel area. Everything looks the same. Also be aware of the Rickshaw driver taking you to the Painting Schools. Just like everywhere they are paid to take you to local painting school shops. The paintings are nice just bargain for them.
Frankly I think that’s absoultley good stuff.
Play informative for me, Mr. itnenret writer.
